18/1: Hoy comienza la Semana de Oración por la Unidad De Los Cristianos. Invito, por lo tanto, a todas las comunidades católicas a reforzar, en estos días, la oración por la plena unidad visible de todos los cristianos. Nuestro compromiso con la unidad debe ir acompañado de manera coherente con el compromiso por la paz y la justicia en el mundo.
18/1: Hoy deseo recordar las grandes dificultades que padece la población del este de la República Democrática del Congo, obligada a huir de su país a causa de la violencia y a afrontar una grave crisis humanitaria. Oremos Juntos para que entre las partes en conflicto prevalezca siempre el diálogo por la reconciliación y la paz. Deseo además asegurar mis oraciones por las víctimas de las inundaciones que, en los últimos días, han azotado el sur de África.
